Whaley Children’s Center FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions about Whaley Children’s Center.

If you have additional questions, please call us at 810-234-3603.

How long do the kids stay at Whaley Children’s Center?
It  depends on the individual needs of each child. Some children may respond well to therapy and be able to find a new home within 6 months. We do have other children who stay over a year.
How do the children come to be at Whaley?
Children come to Whaley Children’s Center because they are in the foster care system through the State of Michigan.

All of them are survivors of abuse and/or neglect which manifests into pain-based behaviors. Having survived so much trauma, our children need extra attention, support and care, along with intensive therapy, case management, educational services, mentoring, and love to overcome their past and become principled young adults.

Do the kids have their own bedroom?
Yes, every child has their own bedroom and are provided with clothing, personal care products, toys, blankets, and much more as they come to us with very little.
What can I donate to Whaley and how can I go about doing so?
Whaley Children’s Center accepts new and very gently used clothing and shoes, new toys, and new personal care items.

We also will accept new or in proper working condition household appliances and furniture. We do not accept used pillows, sheets, towels, and underwear. Donations can be brought to our main building (1201 N. Grand Traverse, Flint 48503).
