Clinical Services
Clinical:
Every child at Whaley Children’s Center receives
psychotherapeutic services from a Masters level therapist. Services
include individual therapy, group and family therapies. The therapists
use a variety of interventions in working with the kids including play
therapy, art therapy, and cognitive behavioral techniques. Individualized
treatment plans are developed for each child with goals centered around
the four areas of the Circle of Courage.
Group:
Each child attends weekly milieu group, which enables them
to learn and practice the Circle of Courage. In addition specialty
groups run throughout the year with participation based on the needs
of the child. Examples of our specialty groups include Grief and Loss,
Anger Management, and Social Skills.
Family:
For families with the goal of reunification, family therapy
is provided to address issues that were present in the home. Whaley
Children’s Center also provides Family Enrichment services.
The members of the Clinical Department participate in all aspects
of the child’s treatment including working with the teachers,
youth specialists, and attending special functions. The therapists
have complete case responsibility and work closely with the Department
of Human Services.
