What does volunteerism mean to you?

Here at Whaley Children’s Center, volunteerism means helping, healing, growing, laughing, caring, being organized, being you. Without volunteers we would not be able to transform lives and create futures for our children.

What can you do as a volunteer?

What you can do is only limited by what you want to do. We welcome all types of talent to our organization. We have a need for help from everyone — meticulous organizers, board game gurus, friendly and smiling faces, or brawn and brains. Check out our volunteer opportunities for our ever changing and ever growing opportunities!

What does it take to be a Whaley Volunteer?

We love volunteers who are kind, dependable, caring, professional, and dedicated. As for the specifics, we ask that all volunteers be 18 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult each time you volunteer.  Volunteers must complete a criminal background check, drug test, TB test and provide a copy of a driving record which is available from the Secretary of State office.

If you have any questions or would like more information about volunteering at Whaley Children’s Center, please contact Sarah Staroba at 810.600.0101 or SStaroba@WhaleyChildren.org.

Each volunteer is asked to undergo a series of tests, just like our employees. The cost of the drug testing, TB testing, and driving record on its own is $39 for each volunteer applicant. This cost can sometimes be a limiting factor to some of the wonderful people who want to help our youth at Whaley Children’s Center.

If you would like to donate more than just your time and talents to the agency, please consider a monetary donation to support Whaley Children’s Center’s volunteer programs.
