Independence...

When Chloe first came to Whaley she was placed in a foster home, but because of her acting out behavior and general defiance of the foster parent she was placed in a second foster home. Due of her sexual offending behavior toward young relatives of the foster parent, and verbal and sexual aggression toward another foster child in the second home, she was moved into Whaley's residential center. Chloe entered care due to the natural mother failing to protect, the natural mother’s former live in partner sexually abused her.

Now Chloe demonstrates Independence, particularly regarding involvement in extracurricular activities. She is a very creative child and often expresses herself through artistic endeavors; her drama instructors reported that she was motivated to participate and was willing to help when it was needed. Chloe was in a community play and her drama classes and practices, for the play, were scheduled immediately following her therapy sessions. She expressed to her therapist that she did not want to be late for practice. Chloe also enjoys writing fictional stories, she has recently written a 100-page story! This shows great perseverance and a willingness to take on a great project. Chloe enjoys singing and often practices this without being told. This young lady shows independence with peers as she gives support to them without being prompted by staff, she has also developed appropriate relationships with others.
