Medical Services
Whaley has a full time Nurse on duty 40 hours a week. The also provides
on call services for medical emergencies. The nurse monitors the physical
health of the child. The children are referred for all medical needs
to the Hurley Pediatric Clinic. Emergencies are referred to Hurley
Medical Center, which is located across the street from Whaley. The
child has an initial physical, vision, dental, and hearing evaluation
shortly after admission. Thereafter the child will receive an annual
physical exam, a vision exam every two years, a dental cleaning and
check up every 6 months, and referrals to any specialists if needed.
Whaley has a consulting psychiatrist who will see the child for an
initial psychiatric evaluation. If psychotropic medication is needed
the child is seen at least quarterly for medication reviews.
